Do your tanks leak after the winter layup?

It is worth checking your tanks thoroughly after the winter layup. Condensation in steel fuel tanks can cause untold problems including corrosion and water in the filters possibly causing your engine to stop. If your stainless or mild steel fuel tank was not left full over the winter layup then it will almost certainly have a small amount of water content. Our climate in the UK provides the ideal conditions for water vapour to condense out on the tank sides. This can often be seen on the outside of the tank, sometimes known as sweating.

Another source of corrosion is tanks sitting on foam or rubber. At Tek Tanks we see many stainless steel, aluminium and mild steel tanks with corrosion problems. Quite often the corrosion can be clearly seen where the tanks have been resting in frames etc. Moisture collects in these areas and is unable to dry out. If your tank is sitting on foam or rubber, then it would be worth checking and even replacing of possible with a non absorbent or closed cell product.

Tek Tanks polyethylene tanks do not suffer with corrosion problems and almost totally eliminate condensation, within fuel tanks.Every Tek Tanks custom tank comes with a 5 year warranty as standard and peace of mind with our CE certification.
