New Tank Selection Guide

Thursday, October 28th, 2010

The new Tank Selection Guide allows users to quickly and easily find the best tank for their application.

Because of the large number of moulded tanks which the company now stock, this simplifies the process of finding exactly the right tank.

The unique Tek-Tanks Guide has been produced to lead customers through their total range with fast, step by step , “button clicking” choices. If no suitable pre-made moulded tank is available, the users are taken through to the alternative of Custom Built tanks.

There are downloadable PDF dimensioned drawings of all the tanks and these can be checked against the boat or vehicle for size and shape.

We  will update the guide regularly as new tanks become available. It can be accessed by clicking the blue “Tanks Guide” button on the news pages or clicking the same button located in various places around the website.

There is also searchable database which contains details of tanks for many types of well know yachts and boats, always worth a look to see if yours is there.

We hope that users will find it useful and any feedback would be most welcome.

Tek-Tanks are pleased to anounce their involvement with a Team from Australia who are raising $100,000 for Oxfam Australia. They are going to drive 3 Quad Bikes (ATV’s) from Istanbul, through Europe to the UK, back through Europe, down to South Africa and finally back to Australia, then all around Australia to Sydney……3 continents and 32 countries, across 40,000 km!

We have been asked to supply 3  Series B 30 litre Fuel Tanks (TT-44832) which will be mounted on the back of the bikes. The Bikes are going to be prepared in the UK by ATV specialists ATV World. There will be a changeover valve so when the main tank runs out they will be able to use the fuel from the Series B tanks. This will greatly extend the range of the bikes which will be essential when travelling through Africa and Australia. The purpose of the expedition is to be part of the fight against global poverty by raising awareness in Australia and around the world. The Expedition 2010 is proudly supporting Oxfam Australia’s global poverty campaigning by setting a fundraising goal of $100,000 towards Africa: food, water, sanitation, education, agriculture, livestock, and HIV/AIDS.

The Team will also be attempting to break the current Guinness World Records Record for the “Longest journey on an quad bike (ATV)” and in so doing, generating global exposure for EXP2010, Oxfam Australia, and all their supporters.

This is an extremely challenging adventure and your support would greatly appreciated. There is a donation page on the website which is extremely quick and easy to use.

New TS1 Ultrasonic Sender from BEP

Wednesday, April 21st, 2010

TS1

After being asked for some time now if we could supply the incredible BEP Marine TS1 Ultrasonic Sender, we have decided to go ahead and stock this item.

  • The TS1 is capable of sensing water, waste, petrol and diesel in polyethylene, aluminium, stainless steel and fibreglass tanks.
  • Once programmed by Tek-Tanks the TS1 is easy to fit, extremely accurate and no moving parts.
  • Much more reliable than devices such as float sensors which are prone to getting jammed.
  • Works with petrol, diesel, fresh water, grey water and black water.
  • Can be used with both metal and plastic tanks.
  • The Ultrasonic Sender is a revolutionary breakthrough in measuring levels in virtually any type or shape of tank.

It solves a complex problem that in the past, lots of different sender solutions were needed for different tanks.  The TS1 sender can be used in ANY tank between 200 and 2000mm in depth and it is compatible with virtually any meter head type. The TS1 must be mounted 150mm away from any tank wall or vertical baffle. It works by using ultrasonic waves to measure the fluid level rather than relying on senders either sat in the fuel, on-top of the fuel or installed at different heights through the side of the tank. The unit is low profile and uses an industry standard SAE 5 stud mounting pattern with a gasket seal and washer and can therefore be easily retrofitted in the place of existing senders as well as used for new fits.

The Ultrasonic sender is pre-programmed for linear tanks to 2 meters in depth and with a 0-5 volt output. For nonlinear tanks and different outputs, Tek Tanks can pre-program units for customers.

Alternative outputs of 10 – 180 ohms, 10-300 ohms, 240-33 ohms and 1-5 volts are available.

By “Popular demand” We now sell TOILETS.

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

It seems like the obvious thing to do; after all we make the tanks, fit the fittings and supply most of the related components. We have therefore selected a number of good quality marine toilets to add to our product range.

Jabsco Manual ToiletIn the “manual”, hand-pump range we offer the ever popular, easy to fit, Jabsco. This well proven toilet is fitted to thousands of boats world wide and is a great entry level product. It is easy to maintain and service and parts are available almost everywhere. This toilet can also be upgraded to operate electrically by simply exchanging the pump unit.

Sanimarin 31 Front In the “push button electric macerator” range we have selected the Sanimarin 31 (probably the smallest electric marine toilet available) and the larger (similar to a typical domestic toilet) Sanimarin 35. Both of these products operate electrically and are flushed by simply pushing a button on a separate control panel. An adjustable programme allows the amount of flushing water to be controlled, optimising the quantity going into the holding tank at each use. The powerful, built-in electric macerator is quiet, but sturdy. The flush control panel can also include a “tank full” warning.

Toilets01-640 As our third range we have selected two Sealand “vacuum” toilets. Vacuum toilets use minimal amounts of water. These are also good for holding tank systems, extending the period between pump outs, and have the advantage that the toilet can be situated a considerable distance from the black water tank since the powerful vacuum system transports the waste from the toilet to the tank and does not rely on either gravity, hand pumping or relatively small electric motors. We supply the 4800 with wall mounted flush control and the 5000 which is foot pedal operated.

Boat toilets have come a long way in recent years and the systems we have chosen will enable owners to enjoy all of the convenience, comfort and style of their home bathroom while on board!

All these toilets can of course be fitted to vehicles and the new Dometic vacuum cassette system is ideal.CASSETTE02-640

Tek-Tanks have always taken pride in working with and supplying the very best quality products and equipment, which is why we have chosen these particular toilet systems.

As more marinas, estuaries and worldwide sailing areas legislate for the compulsory use of holding tanks we believe that this new service will mean that we can help you to select the optimum “system” to meet your  requirements.

Call us NOW to discuss your requirements.

C-Boat 12 Launched

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

C-Boat

Tek-Tanks are pleased to announce their involvement with C-Boat. The C-Boat is a new concept in marine design and build. The inspiration behind C-Boat is Jason Carrington, world-renowned both as a round the world yachtsman and as a race yacht builder. He has become almost legendary for his painstaking attention to detail and his relentless ambition to build the lightest yet most robust yachts.

Obviously when the phone rang to discuss the 580 litre fuel tank we were very keen to get involved. A quick trip down to Lymington where the boat was being built ended in a template that Jason had built being cut in half so it would fit in the car! The template was reassembled back at the factory and drawings where produced for Jason to OK.

The tank was delivered and when placed in the boat it fitted perfectly with a slight sound of air being expelled as it slipped into position.C-Boat 12 Fuel Tank Tek-Tanks also supplied a V shaped water tank with a capacity of 81 litres for the same boat.

We wish Jason lots of luck with his C-Boat 12. To find out more about the boat please visit the C-Boat website

TBW 3 & Legend

We have just published our new 3D Holding Tank Layouts which we think are much easier to understand than our previous versions. They still cover above and below  waterline installations with added notes.

They can be viewed with the parts legend by just clicking the photo or a full 360 degree animation can be downloaded. If the loop or repeat button is switched on in your player then the layout will just carry on rotating.

Click this link to take you to all the new Holding Tank Layouts.
