By “Popular demand” We now sell TOILETS.

Wednesday, January 27th, 2010

It seems like the obvious thing to do; after all we make the tanks, fit the fittings and supply most of the related components. We have therefore selected a number of good quality marine toilets to add to our product range.

Jabsco Manual ToiletIn the “manual”, hand-pump range we offer the ever popular, easy to fit, Jabsco. This well proven toilet is fitted to thousands of boats world wide and is a great entry level product. It is easy to maintain and service and parts are available almost everywhere. This toilet can also be upgraded to operate electrically by simply exchanging the pump unit.

Sanimarin 31 Front In the “push button electric macerator” range we have selected the Sanimarin 31 (probably the smallest electric marine toilet available) and the larger (similar to a typical domestic toilet) Sanimarin 35. Both of these products operate electrically and are flushed by simply pushing a button on a separate control panel. An adjustable programme allows the amount of flushing water to be controlled, optimising the quantity going into the holding tank at each use. The powerful, built-in electric macerator is quiet, but sturdy. The flush control panel can also include a “tank full” warning.

Toilets01-640 As our third range we have selected two Sealand “vacuum” toilets. Vacuum toilets use minimal amounts of water. These are also good for holding tank systems, extending the period between pump outs, and have the advantage that the toilet can be situated a considerable distance from the black water tank since the powerful vacuum system transports the waste from the toilet to the tank and does not rely on either gravity, hand pumping or relatively small electric motors. We supply the 4800 with wall mounted flush control and the 5000 which is foot pedal operated.

Boat toilets have come a long way in recent years and the systems we have chosen will enable owners to enjoy all of the convenience, comfort and style of their home bathroom while on board!

All these toilets can of course be fitted to vehicles and the new Dometic vacuum cassette system is ideal.CASSETTE02-640

Tek-Tanks have always taken pride in working with and supplying the very best quality products and equipment, which is why we have chosen these particular toilet systems.

As more marinas, estuaries and worldwide sailing areas legislate for the compulsory use of holding tanks we believe that this new service will mean that we can help you to select the optimum “system” to meet your  requirements.

Call us NOW to discuss your requirements.

C-Boat 12 Launched

C-Boat

Tek-Tanks are pleased to announce their involvement with C-Boat. The C-Boat is a new concept in marine design and build. The inspiration behind C-Boat is Jason Carrington, world-renowned both as a round the world yachtsman and as a race yacht builder. He has become almost legendary for his painstaking attention to detail and his relentless ambition to build the lightest yet most robust yachts.

Obviously when the phone rang to discuss the 580 litre fuel tank we were very keen to get involved. A quick trip down to Lymington where the boat was being built ended in a template that Jason had built being cut in half so it would fit in the car! The template was reassembled back at the factory and drawings where produced for Jason to OK.

The tank was delivered and when placed in the boat it fitted perfectly with a slight sound of air being expelled as it slipped into position.C-Boat 12 Fuel Tank Tek-Tanks also supplied a V shaped water tank with a capacity of 81 litres for the same boat.

We wish Jason lots of luck with his C-Boat 12. To find out more about the boat please visit the C-Boat website

TBW 3 & Legend

We have just published our new 3D Holding Tank Layouts which we think are much easier to understand than our previous versions. They still cover above and below  waterline installations with added notes.

They can be viewed with the parts legend by just clicking the photo or a full 360 degree animation can be downloaded. If the loop or repeat button is switched on in your player then the layout will just carry on rotating.

Click this link to take you to all the new Holding Tank Layouts.

Southampton Boatshow 2009

SBS 2009 01

Tek-Tanks would like to thank all the visitors who came on to the stand at this years Southampton Boatshow. Yet again the main subject of conversation was the wish to fit holding tanks before renting out your houses and sailing off into the blue yonder!

We were very busy at times and would like to thank you for your patience while waiting for someone to become available.

SBS 2009 02The tank building display seemed well received with lots of questions being asked. Quite a few visitors were unaware that we could actually custom build tanks to their size and shape which came as quite a surprise to us!

We will almost certainly be doing the same next year, so if your tank is in our schedule around boatshow time, you may actually see it being made.

The new level indication display seemed to work better being longer, as more people were able to use it at once. This display is a permanent feature in our office along with the new holding tank plumbing display, so please do come along and have another look if you want to see the gauges working.

Tek-Tanks invests in CNC Machining Capability

Tek-Tanks have taken the plunge …..excuse the pun, in a CNC Router capable of machining very accurate panels from many types of material.

The CNC Router will be used predominantly for machining panels for our custom built tanks enabling us to deliver an even more accurate and higher quality tank for the same price. Your tank will be machined directly from our detailed CAD drawings eliminating any misunderstanding that could occur from vague or ambiguous hand sketches.

The following quotation is directly from our Vision Statement.

“We will embrace any new technology suitable to the advancement of the company…. We will be recognised as an innovative company willing to please. “

Tek-Tanks will be offering a full CNC Routing Service under the name of Tek-Kut, the newest member of the Tek-Group. Please contact us on 01420 520064 for more details on how we can help with your cutting requirements.

10,000 Tanks And Busy Making More

Wednesday, September 16th, 2009

10,000th-tankWhen Martin Rye started Tek-Tanks back in 1991, he probably had no idea that in just a few years he would be presenting a bottle of champagne to the owner of tank number Ten Thousand.

Martin (pictured right) and John Charnley, Chief executive of Southampton based Discovery Yachts (pictured left) are actually standing in the hull of the brand new and very luxurious Ron Holland designed Discovery 67 during the early part of the build process.

The tank seen here is just one of the seven plus tanks which Tek-Tanks have designed and supplied. There are three diesel, two water and two waste tanks, with an optional extended range fuel tank also available.

Now based in larger premises Near Alton, Hampshire, Tek-Tanks is part of the Tek-Group, the marine division of which produces a jet powered RIB under the Tek-Jet brand and a high tech racing catamaran under the Tek-Kat name.

In addition to designing and building tanks for production boats of all shapes and sizes, the company also produces them for individual retail customers, often building unique shapes and sizes to replace old and corroded ones. They now have a growing database of designs, so they can easily find exactly the right tank for many makes of boats.

There is also a comprehensive range of “standard” tanks listed on the Tek-Tanks web site www.tek-tanks.com, all of which can be “customised” by the addition of inlets, outlets and other fittings. Incidentally, there is a handy tank size and volume calculator on the site too.
